The Dearborn Chicago
On my final day in the Windy City, I knew I wanted to experience a memorable meal. I took a long walk to Millennium Park and then to the theater district. When I walked by The Dearborn Chicago, I knew this urban tavern was the place for me.
This restaurant features warm and inviting decor, and they had a menu posted outside. I immediately saw several things I wanted to eat, so went inside.
The restaurant was fairly full mid-afternoon on a weekday, but I was able to get seating quickly at a tall table near the bar.
The Dearborn is owned by sisters Amy and Coldagh Lawless and Aaron Cuschieri is the executive chef. Top Chef fans will remember him from season 11 of the hit TV show. The urban American tavern features upscale pub food that makes good use of fresh, seasonal ingredients.

I ordered the grilled pear and Gruyère grilled cheese with caramelized onions and honeycomb and the flavor combination was wonderful.
The house salad was great, too, and better than I expected for a side. Portions were big enough that I saved half of the sandwich to eat at the airport.
The meal was just what I needed and service was excellent. This was a good finish to my trip to Chicago!
