Cold Spring Tavern
I love finding quirky, one of a kind restaurants, when I travel. So, I was excited to discover Cold Spring Tavern in the mountains above Santa Barbara. It is obviously quirky and is definitely one of a kind.
The tavern was actually a stagecoach stop back in the day, and it has authentic Old West style. Many of the buildings have been there since the 1800’s, so there is history everywhere you turn.
We arrived around 4pm, which is between their lunch and dinner service. Between meals, they offer a limited food menu and an extensive beverage menu in the bar.
The complete menu would have been nice, but this menu had more than enough. They even had a vegetarian quiche for me and their famous tri-tip for my meat eating friend.

It was cold and wet the day I was there, so a fire was burning to keep it warm inside. We also wandered around outside to look at the rustic buildings, artifacts and scenery. It was nice on a chilly day, and would be great on a warm Summer day. They often have live music and other special events, so you can relax and spend the afternoon there.
This isn’t just “bar food,” but is fine dining. My mid-afternoon meal was great, and the dinner menu looks fantastic. This would be a great spot for a special occasion, and a reservation is recommended during peak dinner hours.
Cold Spring Tavern is a great place to stop for delicious food, good service, a beautiful location and a fun Old West experience.
