This delicious ice cream topping is super easy to make and only takes 2 ingredients and minimal effort. It’s a fun project for kids to help with and is great for parties or anytime you need something special. My sister showed me how to make it for my niece’s birthday celebration.
You can use whatever type of chocolate chips, you’d like. We prefer ones that are Fair Trade. The coconut oil is the secret to making this harden when it’s poured onto cold ice cream.
This is a fun substitute for pricey store bought ice cream toppings.
Homemade Chocolate “Magic Shell”
Ingredients:
1 cup Fair Trade Chocolate Chips
1 t Fair Trade Coconut Oil
Instructions:
Combine chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl.
Microwave on high in 15 second increments, pausing to stir before restarting.
Will be ready in approx. 1 minute. Microwave times can vary, so you’ll need to keep an eye on it and adjust as necessary.
While still hot and liquified, spoon over ice cream. It will harden right away.
