Fresh Heirloom Tomatoes

There is nothing quite like a tomato fresh from the garden.

When I was younger, I thought I didn’t like tomatoes. The flavor was blah and the texture was blah.

Then, I discovered home grown tomatoes.

What a difference it makes to allow tomatoes to ripen naturally on the vine. This is what nature intended! Tomatoes weren’t meant to be picked early to finish ripening as they journey to stores and warehouses. Tomatoes need sunshine.

I always enjoy eating a tomato that has just been picked, but this year’s harvest is especially good.

These heirloom tomatoes have a sweet, red flesh that is full of flavor. I thought I planted enough to have extras for canning, but each and every one of these are being eaten within moments of picking them.
