Years ago, I used to subscribe to the Sunday paper to get the circulars and find out what was on sale that week. I like to save money on the things my family needs, but having printed newspapers and ads delivered to my doorstep is not good for the environment.
I’ve found a great way to see those ads digitally and organize my shopping trips without wasting a single piece of paper – Flipp!
The app is free and can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store. It was easy to find and quick to install for my android phone. I’d assume it is the same for Apple users.
It is very user friendly. I had actually set aside a block of time to figure it out, but within just a few minutes I was already comfortable with it and had my first shopping trip planned. I like that I can use it at home or when I’m out. It helps me decide which store I’m going to go to and what I’ll get when I’m there.
When you first install the app, it will walk you through a quick tutorial. Then you’ll be able to comfortably navigate the app in a way that works for you.
I thought it was just going to be grocery store ads, but they’ve got a full selection of other stores, too. I can use Flipp for my regular food shopping and when I occasionally need other things like clothing, school and office supplies, household goods, automotive items and home improvement supplies.
I was able to input my location to find circular ads for stores in my area. This can easily be changed when I’m traveling. I favorited the grocery stores that I know I’ll want to check regularly and I can look at the other ads on an as needed basis.
The circulars look just like they do when you have the paper version complete with images of the products. When I see something I like, I just tap to add it to my shopping list and I can change my mind as much as I want.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are the main things that I use store ads for. There can be a big difference in price, even on seasonal items that are locally grown. I’ve got a wide variety of conveniently located grocery stores in my area, so it makes sense to use Flipp to help me save money.
This week I was shopping for fruit to freeze for use in smoothies and for my family to eat fresh. Flipp helped me decide to stock up on blueberries and strawberries at Albertsons and to go to Ralphs for raspberries and green grapes.
Flipp is a great tool to help me find what I need at great prices. It’s free to install and super easy to use. I saved money the very first week I used it and am looking forward to saving even more. My personal #FlippFoodChallenge was a success. This is an app that I will use regularly to save time and money.
