Mmm… smoothies are a great way to start the day. I like using ingredients that help turn my fruity beverage into a meal. Oatmeal a great addition that has protein, fiber and other good nutrition.
Scottish Oatmeal is different than steel cut or rolled oats. It’s ground and can be used in a variety of ways. A hot cereal is nice when the weather is cool, but when it’s warm outside I like to enjoy my oatmeal as a smoothie.
I like to buy my strawberries by the flat. I use some of them fresh and then pop the others in the freezer, so they are ready to blend into smoothies.
Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie
Ingredients:
2 cups Frozen Strawberries
1 cup Milk (or vegan alternative)
2 T Scottish Oatmeal (I use Bob’s Red Mill Scottish Oats)
1 t Honey or Agave
1 t Vanilla Extract
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender.
Blend until smooth and creamy.
