Meal Prep Mocha Smoothie Bags
Prep ahead of time with a mocha smoothie pack, so you are ready to quickly make chocolate coffee smoothies whenever you want.
It is especially helpful to have single serve smoothie bags in the freezer, when you are short on time and needing a quick meal.
The packs are pre-measured, so all you need to add is your choice of liquid before blending your smoothie.
No special skills are needed to make the meal prep freezer packs and it is also easy to make the smoothies.
How Many Mocha Smoothie Packs Does This Recipe Make?
The recipe includes portions for making a single smoothie pack, but you can make as many as you’d like.
Keep the proportions approximately as written and you can stock your freezer with smoothie packs for quick and easy meals or snacks.
Are The Smoothies Gluten-free?
All of the ingredients in the smoothie bag can be gluten free.
Be sure to check labels on the packaged ingredients to make sure that they are made in a gluten free facility.
Then, blend your pack with milk or a plant based milk alternative that doesn’t contain gluten.
Is The Smoothie Bag Recipe Vegetarian or Vegan?
The recipe is vegetarian as written and can be vegan.
The freezer pack can be blended with ‘regular’ milk, if you are ok with consuming dairy.
If you want yours to be vegan, skip the chocolate chips made with dairy and use cacao nibs or a vegan chocolate chip instead.
Then, choose a plant based milk when it comes time to use the pack to make the smoothie.
Why Use Oatmeal in Smoothies?
Oats are an easy way to add some healthy whole grains into your diet.
They also help make this smoothie feel more ‘substantial,’ when you are drinking it for breakfast.
Also, oats are available at a budget friendly price, so are a great frugal ingredient that is also packed with nutrition.
Will healthy oats make a smoothie grainy?
If you like a bit of texture in your smoothie, you can blend it a little less to keep some texture in it.
The rest of us who like our smoothies smooth can easily get a creamy drink without any grainy bits just by blending it well with a good blender.
What Type of Coffee Is Good for Mocha Smoothies?
Any type of coffee can be used in this recipe, so you can use your favorite.
Decaf is fine, if you don’t want the caffeine.
Personally, I like using a strong dark roast, so the smoothie still has good coffee flavor with the other ingredients added.
What Kind of Ice Cube Tray is Best for Ice Cubes Made with Coffee or Yogurt?
Any ice cube tray can be used.
However, if you are in the market for new ice cube trays, I recommend silicone ice molds.
Silicone ice cube trays release the cubes easily, so you don’t have to struggle to get them out.
Also, your ice won’t have a “plastic” taste.
Can I Prep Smoothie Packs without Using Plastic Bags?
Plastic zipper bags work well for smoothie packs, since they conform to the shape of the contents and are efficient to store.
However, the standard bags are not great for the environment.
Reusable freezer bags are a much better choice for the planet!
Silicone bags are my favorite, since they are durable and easy to clean.
You can also use other types of reusable storage containers for your smoothie packs.
What type of blender should I use?
I always recommend that people invest in a good high-speed blender, so that you can keep it for years and use it often.
This recipe has ice and oats in it, so you want to use a blender that will blend those ingredients into a nice smooth texture.
A blender with less power may work for this smoothie, if you blend it longer.
If you are just now looking to purchase a blender, I’d recommend investing in a high quality one that you will be able to use efficiently for more recipes.
How Do I Make A Mocha Smoothie With The Freezer Pack?
It is easy to make a smoothie with the make ahead smoothie pack, so it is perfect for busy days.
You can make one or you can do a couple at the same time as long as you have a big enough blender.
Simply add the contents of the smoothie pack and your liquid of choice to your blender.
Then, blend until smooth.
This smoothie is good for breakfast in the morning or for a snack in the afternoon or another time of day.
Meal prep really does help save time.
What Kind of Liquid Is Good to Make A Smoothie?
The mocha smoothie pack is delicious with a wide variety of liquids mixed in, so you can choose your favorite or mix it up and try different liquids.
Milk is good, if you are not looking for a dairy-free smoothie.
Plant based milks are great for smoothies and can add nice flavor.
Nut milks like almond, cashew or macadamia are delicious with this smoothie, but you are welcome to try whatever you prefer.
Think about what type of milk you like to add to your coffee and that is a good indication of what you’ll like mixed into the mocha smoothie.
Have fun with your meal prep and enjoy having ready to blend smoothie packs in your freezer.
