Easy Reindeer Sandwich
This reindeer Nutella sandwich recipe is absolutely adorable and delicious, so it is perfect to serve throughout the holiday season.
Rudolph has pretzel ears, candy eyes and a cute red nose that is super fun.
Of course, this sandwich also tastes amazing, since it is filled with chocolate hazelnut Nutella.
Is this reindeer Nutella sandwich recipe good for parties?
These cute Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Nutella sandwiches are great for parties and are a popular item on a buffet table.
They can also be a fun little surprise for the family, when you are enjoying other family traditions together.
Also, it would be fun to serve them with my star cutout sandwiches.
Is it ok to make the Rudolph sandwiches ahead of time?
Yes, you can make the sandwiches ahead of time and save the last minute rush for other party prep.
If you are making ahead, store the sandwiches in an airtight container or on a platter that is covered completely with Saran Wrap (or similar).
Keeping the air out is a must, since you don’t want the bread to dry out.
Just be careful, so the antlers, eyes and red nose don’t come off.
Can the Christmas sandwiches be packed in a lunch?
You can pack the reindeer sandwich in a lunch, but will need to be careful with the decorations.
It will do the best in a bento box type lunch box, so that you can keep it protected.
You don’t want Rudolph to get squished or lose his antlers, candy nose or candy eyes.
Can I make the reindeer sandwiches gluten free?
My sandwiches in the photos contain gluten, but you can make these sandwiches gluten-free if you’d like.
Soft, spongy bread works best with cookie cutters, so keep that in mind when choosing a loaf.
Nutella is naturally gluten-free.
Is this cute recipe vegetarian or vegan?
The reindeer sandwiches are vegetarian, but mine are made with Nutella and are not vegan.
There are vegan chocolate hazelnut spreads that are delicious, so that is an easy swap for a vegan.
What should I use for the red nose?
My first choice for Rudolph’s nose is a red peanut M&M candy, but you can substitute.
A plan M&M, Red Hot or other red candy will be cute, too.
Are These Sandwiches Just for Kids?
These Rudolph sandwiches are definitely kid friendly, since they look cute, can be eaten by hand and taste good.
However, adults can enjoy them, too.
If you have them out on a buffet table, there is a good chance that kids won’t be the only ones eating these fun holiday sandwiches.
Can Kids Help Make The Christmas Sandwiches?
Making sandwiches shaped like Rudolph is a fun activity that doesn’t involve dangerous equipment, so kids can join in and help.
Cookie cutters are fun for kids, whether they are used for these sandwiches, cookies or Play-doh.
No sharp knives are needed, since a table knife is all you need to spread the Nutella.
And kids will enjoy adding the antlers, eyes and red nose.
What to Do with The Leftover Bread?
The crust and bread that is left over after you’ve cut out the heart shaped reindeer head with a cookie cutter doesn’t have to go to waste.
The easiest use for the bread during the holiday season is to cut it into smaller pieces and add it to whatever other bread you are using for stuffing.
Another idea is to let it dry out and crumble it to use as bread crumbs in other recipes.
Or your child may just want to snack on it, when they are helping you make the sandwiches.
