Uses for Tzatziki:

  • Dip: Pair with fresh veggies, pita bread, or crackers.
  • Spread: Use as a sandwich or wrap filling.
  • Topping: Spoon it over grilled meats or fish.
  • Sauce: Toss with salad greens for a tangy twist.

The best cucumbers for tzatziki are:

  • Persian cucumbers: These small, sweet cucumbers have a mild flavor and crisp texture. They’re a great option for tzatziki because they don’t need to be peeled.
  • English cucumbers: Larger than Persian cucumbers, English cucumbers are also a good choice for tzatziki. They have a similar flavor and texture.

Avoid using waxy cucumbers.

Variations

  • Spicy tzatziki: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a diced jalapeño for a spicy kick.
  • Herby tzatziki: Experiment with different herbs like mint, parsley, or chives.
  • Vegan tzatziki: Use vegan yogurt and sour cream for a dairy-free version.
