Vegan Cherry Popsicles Sweetened with Agave
Creamy cherry vanilla popsicles are easy to make, and the vegan, gluten-free fruit popsicle is perfect for cooling down on a hot day.
Made with just a few simple ingredients, including cherries, vanilla extract, agave nectar, and coconut milk, these popsicles are sure to become a family favorite.
The cherries provide a tart and refreshing flavor, while the vanilla extract adds a touch of sweetness.
The coconut milk gives the popsicles a creamy texture that is perfect for enjoying on a hot day.
And the agave nectar provides a natural sweetness that is delicious.
Cherries: The Perfect Popsicle Ingredient
Cherries are a delicious and nutritious fruit that are perfect for making popsicles.
They are naturally sweet and tart, and they have a juicy texture that makes them perfect for blending into a smooth, creamy popsicle.
Fresh cherries are the best option for making popsicles, but frozen cherries can be substituted if fresh cherries are not available.
When choosing cherries, look for ones that are plump and firm, with a deep red color.
Cherries are typically in season in the summer months, from June to August.
However, they can be found frozen to use in cherry recipes year-round.
In addition to being delicious, cherries are also a good source of nutrients.
They are a good source of vitamins A and C, as well as potassium and fiber.
Creamy and Nutritious Coconut Milk
Coconut milk is a popular ingredient in many Southeast Asian dishes.
It is made from the flesh of mature coconuts that have been grated and then soaked in water.
The resulting liquid is then strained to remove the coconut meat, leaving behind a thick, creamy milk for use in coconut milk recipes.
It is also a good source of dietary fiber and protein.
For the creamiest texture, use full-fat coconut milk for coconut milk popsicles.
Lite coconut milk can be substituted, but it will not be quite as creamy.
Agave Nectar: A Sweet White Sugar Alternative
Agave nectar is a natural sweetener that is made from the sap of the agave plant.
It is a vegan, low-glycemic sweetener that has a neutral flavor that blends easily into other flavors.
Agave nectar recipes are a great option for people who are looking for an alternative to sugar or honey in their popsicles.
The liquid nectar can be added directly to the popsicle mixture without any need to dissolve it first, so it is a quick and easy way to sweeten your popsicles.
If you prefer a sweeter popsicle than I do, you can add more agave nectar to taste.
Vanilla Extract: The Popsicle Flavor Booster
Vanilla extract is a natural flavoring that is made from the beans of the vanilla orchid.
It has a rich, sweet flavor that can add depth and complexity to any popsicle recipe.
Vanilla extract is a popular ingredient in many fruit popsicle recipes, since it enhances their natural flavors.
Make sure you use pure vanilla extract for your vanilla recipes, since it is made from real vanilla beans and has a richer flavor than imitation vanilla extract.
Popsicle Molds
Any type of popsicle mold can be used with this fruit popsicle recipe, but you may need to adjust the quantities to fill different sized molds.
As you can see from my photos, I made my popsicles in different shapes.
I made small and large popsicles in a traditional popsicle mold, and I made freezie-style pops in silicone ice pop molds.
When choosing a popsicle mold, there are a few things to consider:
- Material: Popsicle molds can be made from a variety of materials, including plastic, silicone, and metal. Plastic molds are the most common type, and they are relatively inexpensive. Silicone molds are more durable and reusable, but they can be more expensive. Metal molds are the most durable, but they can be the most expensive.
- Size: Popsicle molds come in a variety of sizes, from small molds that hold a few popsicles to large molds that hold dozens of popsicles. The size of the mold will depend on how many popsicles you want to make and how much storage space you have.
- Shape: Popsicle molds come in a variety of shapes, including basic geometric shapes, animal shapes, and character shapes. The shape of the mold will depend on the type of popsicles you want to make and the look you are going for.
- Features: Some popsicle molds come with features such as drip guards or removable sticks. These features can make it easier to make and enjoy popsicles.
Once you have considered these factors, you can choose the popsicle mold that is right for you.
Or you can do as I have and get a variety of molds to make an interesting assortment of popsicles often.
Blender
A blender is a great tool for making smoothies, but it can also be used to blend popsicle ingredients.
I always recommend that people invest in a good high-speed blender, as they are more powerful and can blend even the toughest ingredients.
However, this particular recipe is made with soft ingredients, so it doesn’t require a high-speed blender.
If you are just now looking to purchase a blender, I would recommend investing in a good one that you will be able to use efficiently for more recipes.
A high-speed blender can be used to make smoothies, frozen drinks, ice cream, and even nut butter.
It is a versatile appliance that can save you time and money in the long run.
